I have been very quiet on my Blog for a long period of time, but last week I became a citizen of the USA, and today it feels like the right time to start posting new articles.
Last week I went with Marilyn to the extremely beautiful “Paramount Theater of the Arts” in Oakland for the Naturalization Oath Ceremony.
I thought it was just a simple ceremony, but I was wrong. It was much, much more than a simple ceremony. It touched me deeply. Being there in a group of 1085 human beings from 87 countries made me aware of the real nature of the USA, a country of Native Americans and immigrants, a country of diversity. From the people who became citizens that day, there were people who fled their home country because of war, oppression, lack of freedom, terrorism, and of course also because of the economic opportunities here in the USA.
There are people who don’t understand that I wanted to become a citizen of this beautiful land, because they are not happy with the present government, the way congress is functioning, and so forth, but for me it is maybe more clear than for most citizens of the USA who were born here.
WE THE PEOPLE of the USA are the ones who create our country – not the government, not congress. WE THE PEOPLE have the power to create a country that is home for all the people who live here, simply by choosing the leaders who want to serve “WE THE PEOPLE” in the spirit of this country “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, which I translate into “Unity in Diversity”.
There is no country in the world where people of almost all nationalities on Earth are so amply represented as in the USA, so the USA can be the heart of the Unity in Diversity on Earth, also called Humanity.
Let us go for it!
